Many families travel for Christmas. While traveling for Christmas can be a wonderful experience to see loved ones near or far away – the actual experience of travel can sometimes be very frustrating. Kids especially find travel stressful and challenging. Fortunately, there are ways you can make Christmas travel easier for kids.
Bring along some activities for your kids. You may be very focused on catching a connecting flight or carrying your luggage, but keeping your kids occupied should be just as important. This is not simply for your kids’ sake but also for the other passengers. Remember that kids who are not happy may fuss, whimper or cry. You don’t want your kids to disturb other passengers. This experience alone will make travel more difficult for your kids as they feel even more stress, being around adults who are unhappy with their behavior.
Involve your kids in parts of the travel experience. Get out a map and show them where the family is going. Talk about how many miles you are traveling. Read storybooks about planes or trains before you travel. Read storybooks about the town, city or state before you go. Let your kids help pack their suitcases and even shop for Christmas gifts for family. They will get more excited about the holiday travel and will feel like a part of this experience.
It’s okay to offer a reward for good behavior. Giving your kids an incentive for behaving well on the plane or train is appropriate, as long as your expectations are not unrealistic. Most small kids will get restless during some part of your trip – no matter what you do. Siblings may argue.
You know your kids better than anyone else. Choose a reward such as a fun activity for the next day or a special treat when you land. The kids will look forward to this and it can help remind them to behave well – that they will receive something they look forward to.
Whether we like it or not, one of the things that we all have to do is cleaning. Some of us do it reluctantly, some just get on with it, some absolutely hate it but no matter how you feel about it, we all have to do it. If cleaning is not what you look forward to eagerly, then some of the following household cleaning tips will at least try to make it a little more bearable. So without any further ado, let’s roll up our sleeves and get started.
It is easier said than done but one of the foremost household cleaning tips is to get started as soon as you can, rather than keep putting it off. Remember that the longer you leave the cleaning task the worse things are likely to get and you will have a lot more to do later. The journey of a thousand miles starts with one small step and that first step is always the hardest but once you get going, things become more accomplishable. So don’t let things pile up so much that it becomes unmanageable.
Organizing your cleaning task is very paramount, when it comes to household cleaning tips. Keep a schedule to when you are going to do a particular task and then stick to that schedule. For instance, you might decide to clean the floors on one day a week and the windows every two or three weeks. This will help you to manage your chores better, rather than trying to do everything in one go and giving yourself a big headache in the process. Try and accomplish things in small steps.
One of the must do’s for household cleaning tips is to get the other members of the family involved. By designating different tasks, you can greatly reduce the workload. If you have young children, get them involved and you will have double benefits. For one it will reduce the work that you have to do and it will also form the habit of keeping things clean and tidy for your children. You can get them started by offering them incentives, like extra pocket money for doing simple tasks like vacuuming their bedroom.
Household cleaning tips were generally passed down from generation to generation in the old days. Nowadays the internet has made things a lot easier to find. You will be able to find a lot of web sites offering household cleaning tips for all your cleaning requirements. There are sites where you can even submit your tips so that a lot more people can benefit from your experiences.
The final thing that we need to remember when it comes to household cleaning tips is that cleaning is a very personal task. Some things will work for some people and not for others. So you might need to try a few different things before something works for you and becomes your ultimate favorite. You can also put your personal touch to some things and who knows, you could be offering these as your favorite household cleaning tips.

When you become a parent, you are bombarded with help and advice on how to bring up kids. You start getting advice from family and friends on how best to raise children. There are many different ways of bringing up children and you can learn a lot from reading books and magazines and other media sources. Research has shown that there are predominantly three parenting styles of bringing up kids and we are going to have a look at these and decide on their merits.
Authoritarian The first of these parenting styles is called authoritarian parenting. As the name suggests, in this kind of parenting, the parents exert their control over their children by being in control all the time. This is achieved by setting up strict rules and the kids have to adhere to these rules all the time and any deviation from this can be controlled by punishments of various types. In this type of parenting styles the children are not given any choices and options as they are supposed to obey the rules at all times.
Needless to say that this type of parenting is bereft of much love and affection but on the other hand the proponents of this style of parenting might argue that they are doing this because they love their children but you need to remember that love has to be a two way thing and you can not control it by setting up rules and regulations.
Permissive Permissive parenting is perhaps the most relaxed of all the parenting styles. In this type of parenting, there are no strict rules to follow or any rules to follow for that matter. These parents don’t want to be tied down by rules and regulations and they want their children to be free, even when it becomes to making important choices. Even though this type of parenting has its merits but it can be misused by the children because the parents have no control over them and some of the decisions made by the youngsters can have adverse affects on them.
Democratic In the democratic style of parenting, the children are given clear and concise instructions on how they are expected to behave and valid reasons are provided as to why this is expected of them. This is enforced by regular monitoring of the children’s behavior to make sure that the rules and regulations are being adhered to in the proper manner.
In the democratic type of parenting styles, the children’s good behavior is rewarded and encouraged so the children start to form good habits. Any bad behavior is discouraged with an explanation as to why it is unreasonable and the consequences of such behavior. So the children are encouraged to behave in a proper manner by teaching them instead of simple punishments.
So we come to the big question. Which of these parenting styles is the best for you? It is a very hard question to answer because different things work for different people. I think the best way of going about finding the parenting style that best suits you is to try and mix all the styles a little and see what works best for you and your children.
